SANVARIYA SETH TEMPLE

Sawariya-Ji Temple Chittorgarh is one of the largest and oldest temples in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. It is 16th century and built by Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II, founder of Chittorgarh Fort. In the temple, there is a Nandi sculpture of the lord Shiva, which was carved by Bhairaveshwar Doel (1703–1781). This holy place is one among the thousands of temples in India which originated out of a dream. The great Lord Sawariya, who is worshipped as “Lord of Vegetables”, lives in the village of Sawariya in Chittorgarh. This temple has a history going back to 110 years, but what makes the temple infamous are the numerous miracles and wonders that have been witnessed by people who have visited the place. It was built during the reign of Sawarihaji in 1208 A.D. It is believed that the name ‘Sawariya’ was given after a demon was killed by Adinath. The confluence of Bhairon and Narmada rivers has been considered to be one of its main attractions, which makes it unique in its kind. The main attraction is said to be its distinct architecture with a massive Timbra Shiva Lingam that stands towering in height.


CHITTORGARH FORT

Chittorgarh Fort is a hill fort temple complex in Chittorgarh city of India. This place is also known as Chota Nagpur. The fort of Chittorgarh, located in the city of Chittorgarh in Rajasthan, is an example of the architectural brilliance of the Mughal architecture. It is situated at the southern edge of a long hill range and commands a tremendous view of the surrounding countryside, especially during sunset and sunrise. Chittorgarh Fort is a magnificent structure built by Ballal Scindia, which is the newest State Museum of Rajasthan. Chittorgarh Fort was built by Ahilya Bai Holkar between 1720 and 1740. It is situated on the right bank of the river Shipra and is a five-storeyed octagonal fort, surrounded by walls 3.2 m thick. The central tower has a unique spire while others have cupolas and pigeon holes, which are meant for firing into enemy lines from inside the fort. Chittorgarh Fort is one of the most important forts built by the Scindhia between AD 1610 and 1713. It was built on top of an older fort (built in 1490). The first fort was destroyed by Salla; a Vijaynagar army commander during his Invasion of Mewar.
